anthro knockoff

the anthropologie catalog came in the mail last week and i became smitten with one particular item in it:

because i am cheap and lazy and have more know-how than money, i made my own:

i actually have enough little animals to make 12 of these cuties ::  that brass key ring is a little bigger than i wanted, but i still like it a bunch ::  

and yes that is purple metallic leather that used to be just plain black :: i'm working on making it something fun ::

i'm not sure it needs a full tutorial but just in case there are any questions:  the brass key fob is from ho' depot, the little wooden animals are from ebay, brown sheep bulky pink yarn, random beads, and an awesome pompon i made ::  the secret to homemade pompons, well that and a high and tight haircut :: and lots of wire twisting  to make links::

 my mom always finds the cutest ones ::  she found that little bunny and a little chicken and baby duck that need to be hung :: maybe that will get done today ::

a friend of mine thinks that i need to paint the eyes white ::  she doesn't like the way they look at her ::

their eyes don't bother me at all ::  i think they're cute!

i dont know what to call this thing :: giant grid wood wall architectural design grid thing ::

i was hoping that it gave my home a bit of class, made it look like that wall has been there for a while ::  an element from a vintage home.... too much?

more precariously perched painting this afternoon!

an upcoming project :: this urn has been around for a while....maybe a coating of white or gold?

 this is actually some kind of vase :: creepy :: but i have a thing for sheeps heads :: 

must be an aries thing?  i have a ceramic sheeps head hanging in my entryway :: when i first hung it up there five years ago my husband hated it ::  when that wall was repainted last year i filled all of the holes in first knowing that new things would hang there ::  

my husband asked one day when the sheeps head was going back up because he loved it::

my plan to control him is working!, taking forever, but working none the less::

getting 'er done

a small transformation happening around here :: the space above my fireplace is blah :: has been blah for years :: the old gal needed a bit of botox :: not a full facelift, but just a big of tightening here and there ::

actually just after before :: before just after before there was no tape : this is just after before :: where i put painters tape on the wall just to check the size and proportions ::

then a bit later this was happening ::  of course this part ended up being the easiest of this damn deal ::

the measuring, the cutting, the nailing....easier than caulking the damn thing ::  one thing i wish i would have know before applying the caulk, use a damp sponge to wipe down, smooth, and clean the crap ::  much easier than trying to fix it after the shizz is dry :: 

plugging away at it ::  anyone have any good caulking tips?

drink markers that is!  washi tape and boba straws ::  party season is nearing and no one can ever find their drink markers when they are needed...oh wait, maybe it's just me :: bottle of wine + drink markers = fun hostess gift!  they're removeable and reuseable too ::
